About
Natalie DeSorbo is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Writing Program. She has been teaching at Rutgers since 2015. She is currently serving as a First-Year Writing Coordinator, in which she assists with curricular revisions and faculty development for first-year writing courses.

Natalie previously served as the RU-Pathway Program Manager for 4 years. RU-Pathway was a bridge program which assisted non-matriculated international students in developing their English language skills and acclimating them to American culture and educational conventions.

At Rutgers, Natalie has specialized in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses, which are critical reading and writing courses at Rutgers for students who speak English as an additional language. In 2018, she received the Award for Excellence in Teaching for her work in EAP courses. Before teaching at Rutgers, Natalie worked with K-12 multilingual students in New Jersey public schools. Her academic interests include curricular development, lesson planning and delivery, active learning and classroom engagement, student advocacy, comparative linguistics, and dialectal variation in East Asian languages.
