Jennie joined Rutgers after teaching writing class at Brown University, Providence College, and Seattle Central College. She's also taught Reading/Writing for GED and ESOL classes at a community adult education organization, Literacy Source in Seattle, WA. Her background is in English literature with a focus on American and postcolonial literature, war, and photography.
