Using
the New Humanities Reader CD-ROM in RUCS Labs
The Writing Program has recently learned that there's a problem
using the companion cd-rom for The New Humanities Reader,
the textbook for Expository Writing 101. The cd-rom contains tutorial
material as well as an electronic grammar handbook; however, due
to upgrades in the Rutgers computer labs over the summer, the menu
program for the cd-rom will not launch.
However, it is still possible to access the valuable content contained
on the cd-rom. Students and instructors are invited to download
and print the instructions for bypassing the menu program and running
the content of the cd-rom. These instructions are available in Microsoft
Word, Adobe Acrobat PDF, and Rich Text Format on the Writing Program's
page for Instructional Technology.
This is the first time we've attempted to use interactive instructional
material in 101. As with the adoption of any new technology, glitches
are bound to occur. We ask everyone's patience with this particular
problem. We'll be certain to solve it for the cd-rom's second edition!
