As part of its ongoing effort to explore the strange
new worlds of internet technology the Rutgers Writing Program is
piloting an innovative section of 201 this Fall. Students who register
for 355:201:N2 can opt to take an additional 1.5E credits
and learn to publish their research essay on the web.
This course will teach some basic web-building skills
as tools that can be used to explore the ways in which our view
of the research essay shifts in a hypertextual environment. No web-building
skills are expected or required as a pre-requisite for exercising
the hypertext option in 201:N2.
201:N2 is offered under the topic of Popular
Culture. The worldwide web is a great resource for raw material
on artifacts of popular culture, making the section topic a great
place to test the bounds of the research essay on a web page. Students
who take Popular Culture will learn about theories of popular culture
and will use some of those theories to examine aspects of popular
culture that interest them. Almost any aspect of popular culture
is fair game for a student research essay.
If you intend to register for 201:N2 and exercise
the hypertext 1.5E credit option, please inform the 201 Coordinator
via email at cripps@rci.rutgers.edu.
