Starting in Fall 2001 the Writing Program will offer
Expository Writing in an entirely online format. 355:101:90 is a
special pilot section of Expos that will never meet in a classroom.
Students will use the Writing Program's forum to participate
in asynchronous class discussion of the readings, participate in
pre-writing exercises, share reading notes and drafts of essays,
review their peers' first drafts, and learn from their final drafts.
The instructor will moderate discussion, hold on-line
synchronous office hours, and return graded student papers in Pdf
file format. Assignments for discussion and papers will be posted
on the web.
Students interested in the class will fill out a "Distance
Learning Self-Assessment" to determine if the course fits their
needs and abilities. If the course is a fit for students they can
receive a special permission number to register for the course.
