This fall, the Writing Program made The New Humanities
Reader the required text for most sections of Expository Writing
101. As with any first draft, there's room for improvement. During
the process of scanning in the readings, many errors were introduced
into the reader.
We're hoping that we can enlist Rutgers undergraduates
to help make sure that the next edition of the text, due out in
the Fall of 2001, has fewer typographical errors. To this end, we're
announcing a contest to find the most errors in The New Humanities
Reader: the student or instructor who finds the most errors
in the reader will receive a $100 gift certificate from the Rutgers
University bookstore and the 4th edition of Houghton-Mifflin's American
Heritage dictionary (including CD), a $75 value.
If you would like to participate in this contest,
here what you should do:
1. Make a list of errors in the reader as you find
them. Your list should include the page number, description of the
error, and directions as to where on the page the error is to be
found (top, middle, bottom).
2. When you have completed your list, submit it to
Richard E. Miller, Associate Director of the Writing Program at
richard.miller@rutgers.edu.
Please make certain that your submission includes your full name,
your address, and your phone number.
3. All entries submitted before the end of the spring
semester, April 30th, will be considered.
Currently, the sole submission identifies five errors
in the reader......
