Tutorama: Week Ten: Second Draft of Research Essay - Part 1

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

Introduction
Most of you reviewing this week's tutorial have been assigned the second draft of the research essay. You've learned that your instructor would like you to build on the foundation created by the frame/case argument, your argument, that you started to construct for the first draft.

"Started to construct" is the key phrase from the last sentence, because, as you have probably realized by now, revision is the key to success in writing. So pay close attention to any revision suggestions your classmates or your instructor may have offered and do your best to address them in this draft. Also, pay close attention to your instructor's assignment for this draft of your paper; these tutorials are only meant to provide guidelines.

In this draft, you may be required to add additional framing or case texts to fill out your reading of the case, to conduct a more sustained and thorough reading of case materials, but you will probably also be required to begin putting secondary texts, texts about your case as well as texts about issues raised by your case, in conversation with one another. So here are some suggestions for tackling the second draft of your research essay.
