Tutorama: Week Seven: 201 Connections II - Part 1Introduction
Note the difference between the two types of connections discussed in that tutorial: "connecting to create a conversation" and "connecting to frame, or generate a particular reading of, a case". The first type of connection discussed, "creating conversation," is often most useful for secondary materials; we create conversation or dialogue and debate between authors that have something to say about our specific case or the issues at stake in it in order to situate our own reading of the case and the issues at stake in it in relation to the readings others have generated. But the second type of connection discussed, "connecting to frame, or generate a particular reading of, a case," will be most useful for generating your own reading of the case, using terms/ideas from the appropriate framing texts. You will be required to use the first skill discussed, "connecting to create a conversation," after you have begun to flesh out your own reading of your case, using the framing text(s) most suitable for your particular argument regarding your case. Therefore, for the first rough draft of your research paper, you will be required to use the frame/case skills discussed in the second half of Week Three's tutorial and for your second rough draft you will be required to add 3-4 pages to the beginning of your paper in which you create conversation between other scholars and writers, using the skills discussed in the first half of Week Three's tutorial and then going on to revise the frame/case section of your paper accordingly. This week's tutorial will focus on the skills you need to frame your case texts using 3-4 texts. << Tutorama Main >> Part 2 >> |
