Tutorama: Week Three: 201 Connections I- Part 1

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

Introduction
As you probably have realized, the readings in 201 are difficult because they are often theoretically complex, use sophisticated language and are more abstract (see Week Two for strategies for tackling difficult reading). However, while this makes comprehending them more frustrating, it also makes them more useful in the course. It is precisely because they are abstract that we can then apply them to a number of different situations; we can use them to "frame" or generate a reading of a number of different "case" texts or situations. This makes them helpful in constructing our own arguments and this is why they have been assigned to you.

By now, you have probably also been assigned your first paper. There are a couple of different approaches that instructors take in the first two writing assignments, but all of them are constructed to teach/remind you of the skills you will need for your research papers.
