Research ResourcesThe 201 Research Resources are topic specific resources selected to help you access research that may be available on-line. You might use the resources to help narrow a topic that interests you, or you might actually use them to locate sources for your research project. If you came here looking for assistance on the library system, the process of conducting research, or documenting sources, you want to go to the Research Depot. All links will open in a new browser window. If you are looking for a general overview, perhaps review The Center for the Study of Society and Technology. This site claims to analyze how technological advances affect society focusing on ten areas, ranging from biotechnology to innovation to national security. Both CNET and ZDNet offer centralized resources for learning about current and emerging consumer technologies. In particular, they're both excellent sources for news stories about computers and electronics. Scientists for Global Responsibility is a site which explores ethical controveries in science and technology, with particular emphasis on their military and environmental aspects. The site includes resources on topics ranging from space-based missile defense systems to climate change to democratic science. Science, Technology, and Society is an excellent collection of links on a number of technology issues, such as Environmental Science, Energy, and Governmental Policy. You'll probably also want to visit Google's directory of links for Society and Technology. It also reference several related subtopics, including biotechnology, computers, and ethics. Yahoo also has a useful directory of links under Science, Technology, and Society Studies. |
