Studenting Skills - Introduction

Introduction | General Strategies | Specific Strategies

What does "Studenting Skills" mean?
There are different types of skills: academic, social, and what we're calling studenting. Studenting Skills are learned actions and attitudes that will help you accomplish the academic tasks required in college level courses. With these skills, you will be able to move more smoothly through the course you are taking, and will be able to take more from that course at the end of the semester. Without these skills, you may have a harder time of it.

How to Succeed in Basic Composition:
You have many resources at hand to help you, not least of which are your teacher and the Writing Program's Writing Centers. But these will do you little good without a serious commitment on your own part. Basic Composition and Basic Composition with Reading can be challenging courses, but you can be successful if you approach the course with strong studenting skills, or use the course to develop them. Below are some ways that your can make your work more efficient and successful.
