Gradatorium: Introduction

Introduction | Glossary | Skills | Grading Criteria | Criteria Explained
Before You Download | This is a C | This is a B | This is an A
Grade This | How Did You Do? | What to Do Next

Welcome to the Gradatorium! This is the place where we take the mystery out of grading in 100 and 100R. In the Gradatorium we explain the writing and reading skills we want to help you acquire in 100 and 100R and the criteria we will use to evaluate your papers. We’ll also show you how we apply those criteria using sample student papers from 100 and 100R sections. In the Gradatorium, we offer actual student papers of a C, B, and A to show you the grading criteria at work, and to explain why each paper received the grade it did. Then we allow you to evaluate a mystery paper to practice applying the grading standards on your own. Our purpose here is to enable you to use this knowledge to improve your own writing, and so improve your grade in the course.

Let's begin by taking a look at the grading criteria.
