100R and 099 Explained

The Midterm and Final Exam for 100R

The midterm exam for the 100 component in 100R occurs over two days. There is no midterm for the 099 component of 100R. The final exam for 100R, including the 100 component and the 099 final exam, occurs over the last four days of the semester. Students will take two different final exams, an 099 reading exam, and a 100 essay exam. The first of the four days will be the 099 exam. Please note: there is no discussion day preceding the 099 exam. This exam is designed to evaluate student reading comprehension, so specific discussion about the text (even student-lead discussion) would prevent our assessing the independent reading skills of each student. The second day of the four is a discussion day for the 100 final exam. The final two days of the exam are the 100 exam during which time students will write and revise an in-class essay.
