Writing Program Institute

The Writing Program Institute supports teachers through on-site professional development, outreach programs, and on-campus workshops. We believe teaching students about the rich and varied body of non-fiction prose, alongside fiction and other genres, will better prepare students for the challenges of college and the workplace. The Institute works with teachers across New Jersey to implement the Common Core in dynamic ways in sync with their personal approaches.

Summer College for Teachers

altEvery year, educators from across New Jersey come together for The Writing Program Institute's Summer College for Teachers, a project of the nationally recognized Rutgers Writing Program. The Summer College is an opportunity for teachers to share and reflect on their practice in relation to Common Core Standards, while creatively integrating nonfiction into their curriculum. WPI and guest faculty offer a slate of interactive modules drawn from the Rutgers Writing Program Pedagogy.
